HORMONES

Most people cannot lose body fat and/or build muscle due to 1 reason.
Hormones
I've been stressing this topic for the last several years because of what I deal with on a daily basis with clients. While many coaches push clients to drop calories, and increase cardio, the magic is somewhere on the opposite side.
You cannot ride a ship that has a hole in it. Nor can you drive a car with a flat tire. Therefore you must address the issue before moving forward. The first 30 days I work with a client, I make sure they focus on 3 things:
Structure
Recovery
Consistency
Once we can optimize and solidify the routine, I then move on to deeper water.
There isn't a one way to do something, but there is a correct and incorrect way. Women tend to suffer from this issue more than men for the simple reason of overstimulating their body in all the wrong ways.
Women must focus on:
Recovery
Nutrition
Iodine
Proper Macro/Micro ratios
Contrary to what most people believe, LESS IS MORE when doing things correctly. So, what is correct?
Sufficient training, ADEQUATE recovery, consistent calories.
No, not cardio. Not extreme calorie deficits.
For the majority of my female clients who deal with hormonal shifts and offset estradiol/progesterone levels, I pull them away from extreme cardio and training, and focus more on slowly increasing calories and touching up on training (3-4x per week).
Each person is different, age is also a major variable here. However, here is a brief summary on this topic.
More to come!
